As the summer comes to an end, and we all get back to our busy lives of work and school. I’d like to say thank you to all the parents and young adults that have come into the store. Whether you got pierced or just came in to gather information. I’ve enjoyed meeting each and every one of you. If you came in for information I hope to see you sometime this year.

I hope that all of your piercings are healing well and without incident. Remember our “Keep it clean” aftercare pamphlet and the directions that I give verbally, they can help to prevent a nasty infection.  You can also access that info here on the website on the Aftercare Instructions Page.

Many parents leave it up to their children, these young adults to gather as much information as possible about the piercing that they are thinking about getting. Help them out, make it a project and do it together. You know down the road, you as the parent will be asking all the same questions anyway. Piercings aren’t a bad thing. Allowing your child to have one isn’t going to send them down a road of destruction, body piercing is a sign of the times, like it or not it is.

Talk about it. Make it a goal for your child. Getting good grades. Joining a music or sports group, volunteering with a local group. Set a time period, not overly long or their going to be off to a friend’s house and doing their tongue in the garage with a dirty sewing needle and a bent paperclip. I’ve done many repairs and consultations on these types of piercings and 7 times out of 10 they end up losing the piercing and paying for a doctor visit to boot. So why not bring them in and have it done in a safe, fun, clean atmosphere. Done by a professional that cares about you, your piercing and your health.

Here is what is required to pierce a minor.

  • I require a state or school ID from the minor. This must have a photo and your full name on it. Your age is not required.
  • You must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (with legal paperwork from the courts assigning them guardianship.) They must have a ID with a photo also.
  • Your last names on the ID’s must match. If they don’t because of divorce or adoption a birth certificate is then required.
  • Without this documentation no piercing will be performed. There are no exceptions, it’s the law.

Check back for my next post. Until then have a great day.
